Praise the Lord for the amazing night of celebration honoring Pastor Jim Anderson's 25 years of faithful service at Cornerstone Church.

During the past 25 years many steps were taken. Choices were made (like leaving Iowa to move to California!). During the years following, Pastor Jim & Laura raised their children alongside many of you. They have rejoiced with you as your children were born, raised, and married at Cornerstone.

Twenty-five years seem like a long journey until broken up into tiny steps taken daily, monthly, and yearly.

Steps to Honor Christ!

Steps to Serve God's People!

Steps to Build the Kingdom of God!

These steps equal: "A Long Obedience in the Same Direction."

At the end of a brief program, a Love Gift of $2500.00 was given to Pastor Jim to help him and Laura make a trip to Oaxaca, Mexico.

A special word of gratitude to all who gave towards the gift and who helped with the event! This was truly a church-wide effort of love to make this happen.

It is also proper to thank those who organized and planned the event: Teresa Lewis, Darlene Crites, Juli Jensen, Joyce Seibel, and Janet Nunes. If anyone else was left out it was merely an oversight.

Thanks to the generous gifts from our Cornerstone family, 70 families in our community will be given a Thanksgiving Dinner next week! We praise the Lord for the $2800.00 that was donated for this seasonal outreach ministry. Praise the Lord!

Welcome Ministry

This is a ministry we are all responsible to perform!

Welcome and greet people warmly!

To encourage the saints . . . .

We many times do not know the storms and trials people are going through. A warm, genuine smile and greeting in Jesus' name holds the potential to encourage!

To minister to potential believers and starngers . . . .

Individuals attending church for the first time are very apprehensive. They do not have the home field advantage. The longer they attend church the greater opportunity they have of hearing the Gospel and responding to it. Or if they go to another church they will be less fearful to attend if they have been kindly welcomed by the saints.

This is not about our comfort zone! It is about Jesus and treating people the way Jesus would want them treated!

Welcomed!

Greeted!

Helped!

The people he leads to our church are God's gifts to us! The Holy Spirit is working in the hearts of people to help add to our numbers or to increase the Kingdom!

Compass Groups Re-Launching on September 14th!

For those new to Cornerstone Compass Groups is our small group ministry. Compass Groups are where we meet together to pray, study God's Word, and care for one another.

Camp Weekend at Cornerstone!

Just a reminder to all who attended West Coast Camp . . . .

This Saturday and Sunday is "Camp Weekend!"

Kids, teens, and leaders are encouraged to wear their camp t-shirt!

There will be a kid's video and a teen video shown at the beginning of all three services!

All the kids Pre-K - 6th Grade will start in the Worship Center with their parents for the Video and Worship Time.

And Sunday night . . . . "Camp Reunion Night" at Youth Group!

Souls were saved, decisions were made, lives were changed!

Praise: KBK Summer JAM '09!

Special thanks to everyone who helped make this year’s KBK Summer JAM such a blessing! PG is still working on final numbers, but close to 250 children and 50 volunteers participated in this summer’s VBS effort! Praise the LORD!

Deniz Family Car Wash

As many of you heard on Sunday morning, Loretta Deniz is the young woman killed in a car accident on July 4th. Loretta was the sister of Junior Deniz, boyfriend of Chelsea Stallings and past member of our Youth Group. In an attempt to help the financially burdened Deniz family, Chelsea and friends are hosting a Car Wash Fundraiser event tomorrow:

Wednesday, 7/8/09
Rite Aide (corner of Butte House & Stabler)
12:00 – 6:00 PM

Please bring your cars to Rite Aide for Chelsea’s crew to wash. Tell your neighbors and friends also.

Your donations will go a long way to help this grieving family complete the burial plans for their daughter.

Got your fireworks yet? If not, please visit our Fireworks Booth on Gray Avenue (across from Kingwood Park). Not only will you be getting your fireworks for the 4th of July holiday, you will also be supporting the youth program at Cornerstone! Thanks so much!

Church Picnic this Sunday!

Please join us this Sunday afternoon at 1:00 at Kingwood Park! (on Gray Avenue, just 2 blocks from Cornerstone) The church will provide the hamburgers, hot dogs, and drinks. If you could bring the following, we would be so grateful!

The raffle drawing will take place at 3:00. Prizes include:

A few more notes about the picnic:
- Please bring a lawn chair (or a blanket) to the park and any yard games
- Younger families are encouraged to park at Cornerstone and walk over to the park so that the limited street parking can be used by our “Classics!”
- The church’s Ministry Center will be open and available for restroom facilities.
